• small stones, pieces of bone, etc., bearing runes, and used as divinatory symbols

• a most inspired and intuitive secret or whisper

• magical signs and hidden lore

It is believed that the first systems of writing developed and used by the Norse and other Germanic peoples were runic alphabets. Each rune functioned as a letter, yes, but they were//are much more than just letters in the regards to our basic understanding and acceptance of what a letter is. Runes represent symbols of cosmological principles an powers; to cast a rune is to invoke and direct the force for which it stands.

Details:

• this is a full set of 24 runes in the Elder Futhark tradition

• runes are hand cut and stamped from white clay to create an organic feel similar to water worn pebbles or ocean tumbled beach glass

• the rune symbol is accented with black slip and then the back side of each rune is painted with a soft blue/green/gray glaze accented with dark splotches where crystals exploded and pooled during the firing process

• runes measure approximately 0.5” x .75” ; small enough that you can hold them all in your hands as you cast them but solid enough that you feel the gravity of their presence

• each rune set comes in a 2” x 4” organic cotton canvas pouch

• each rune set comes with a 24 page booklet {4.75” x 4.75”} sharing my simple interpretations of each rune to get you started
